This is a very inciteful discussion on why America probably is not the best place for high speed rail development.

The discussion touches on America's love for the new and how that conflicts with one of the key challenges of modern society which is its throw-away nature driven by its concept of all value being summed in the instant value.

Said alternately, we've invested so much in 'car culture' ... roads, highways, suburban housing development ... that high-speed rail is not an option if we want to maintain the infrastructure we have. Couple that with the options for electric commercial aircraft and the die is cast ... we're going that route because it is cheaper.

Aptera is one of the key tools to this 21st century transportation system that uses the existing low-tech infrastructure of highways and even roads with the 'least' among us in terms of infrastructure investment may be the first as these locales will likely adopt autonomous evtol craft to obviate the need for better highways.
