This is an interesting and generally positive article. I asked AI to summarize: It said:
Aptera Motors has unveiled its production-intent solar electric vehicle (sEV) at CES 2025, signaling plans to commence deliveries by year's end. This three-wheeled vehicle integrates 700W of solar cells, enabling up to 40 miles of solar-powered range daily, and can achieve a total range of up to 400 miles on a single charge.
THE VERGE
Designed in collaboration with Italian firm Pininfarina, the vehicle boasts an ultra-aerodynamic design aimed at maximizing energy efficiency. Aptera has secured approximately $1.7 billion in pre-orders, with nearly 50,000 reservations globally, and has raised $135 million through equity crowdfunding to support its pre-production efforts.
APTERA
The company is currently in the Validation Phase, building a series of production-intent vehicles to rigorously test design, components, and performance metrics. Despite these advancements, Aptera faces challenges in securing sufficient funding to proceed with full-scale production.

The comments on the Electrek article about Aptera's production-intent solar EV reveal a mix of enthusiasm and skepticism among readers.

Positive Themes:

Innovative Design and Efficiency: Many commenters praise Aptera's aerodynamic design and solar integration, highlighting the potential for increased energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact.

Right to Repair Advocacy: Some readers appreciate Aptera's commitment to the right to repair, viewing it as a consumer-friendly approach that contrasts with other manufacturers' restrictive policies.

Negative Themes:

Skepticism About Production and Delivery Timelines: Several commenters express doubts about Aptera's ability to meet its projected delivery dates, citing the company's history of delays and the challenges faced by other solar EV startups.

Concerns Over Financial Stability: There are apprehensions regarding Aptera's financial health and its capacity to secure sufficient funding for mass production, especially in light of previous funding challenges.

Overall, while the innovative aspects of Aptera's solar EV are acknowledged, concerns about the company's ability to deliver on its promises persist among the readership.

What were the commenter's observations about salability of the Aptera?

Commenters had mixed observations about the salability of the Aptera, focusing on factors that could either boost or hinder its market appeal:

Positive Observations:
Niche Market Appeal:

Commenters highlighted that the Aptera’s unique three-wheeled design and solar charging capabilities cater to a specific audience interested in sustainability and innovation.
Its ultra-efficient design and potential for minimal operating costs are viewed as attractive for eco-conscious buyers and early adopters.
Affordable Solar Mobility:

Several readers praised the concept of "self-charging" through solar power, particularly for those who drive short distances daily, such as commuters or local errand-runners.
Some believe it could sell well in regions with high solar exposure, where the potential for solar range utilization is maximized.
Right-to-Repair Enthusiasm:

Aptera’s support for right-to-repair was seen as a significant selling point, potentially drawing buyers frustrated with proprietary restrictions from other automakers.
Negative Observations:
Limited Mainstream Appeal:

Many commenters questioned whether the Aptera could gain traction with mainstream buyers, pointing to its unconventional design, which may not appeal to those seeking traditional vehicles.
Its classification as a three-wheeled vehicle and lack of four-wheel-drive options were noted as potential deterrents.
Practicality Concerns:

The lack of significant cargo space and seating for more than two passengers was viewed as a limitation for families or those needing larger vehicles.
Some questioned its suitability for colder climates or regions with limited solar availability.
Market Competition and Brand Recognition:

Commenters doubted its ability to compete with established EV brands offering more conventional designs and broader utility.
Aptera’s lack of brand recognition and the public’s limited awareness of its unique benefits were seen as hurdles to widespread adoption.
Skepticism About Delivery and Reliability:

Concerns about production delays and financial stability led some to worry that potential buyers might hesitate to invest in an unproven company or product.
Conclusion:
While Aptera's design and solar capabilities excite a niche audience, many commenters expressed skepticism about its broader market salability due to practical and aesthetic limitations, competition, and concerns about the company’s ability to deliver. For the Aptera to succeed, its marketing will need to clearly communicate its unique value proposition and overcome these perceived barriers.

After Party remarks CS 2025

This is Chris Anthony's remarks at the Aptera after party where he says that Aptera will produce its millionth Aptera in eight years, which he compared with Tesla, which took 12 years to reach the same milestone. He also recounted the early story about having the design put through a NASA wind tunnel.

Aptera makes it in "WEIRDEST Tech at CES" video

Techlink produced this video with a tongue in cheek attitude to highlight those products that can seem a bit odd; you know, like a three-wheeled autocycle. Overall an entertaining video and actually, beyond the obvious oddity of Aptera it was a very positive presentation with an actual exclamation later in the video (cool reference to Aptera). Techlink apparently has 1.9 million subscribers and the video had a quarter-million views in its first ten hours.

We're basically making a perpetual motion machine ...

We're basically making a perpetual motion machine ... remarked one of the engineers at the after-show party. The whole effort was contained in a video from Aptera.solar; which bills itsself as the European home of Aptera fans.

I'm certain they do know the difference. That said, Aptera presents as a virtuous circle that has no finite limit in terms of movement ... provided, of course, you let it rest in the sun a bit ever so often.

But anyone aware of the definition of said perpetual motion machine will know such a device is an impossibility.

However, you can also make the case that not a whole lot of folks know the definition of a perpetual motion machine - or are willing to accept that level of fanciful exaggeration for its narrative value - but for those unaware of that basic reality, the Aptera is at least as compelling as the hundreds of demonstrations of said machines on youtube ;)

If they want to make it mass market, he says that price ($40,000) will have to come down.
